Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T 10/29

Happy Halloweek! Some people celebrated this past weekend, and others are celebrating this upcoming weekend. Halloween is usually one of my favorite times of the year because I am a massive fan of playing dress up, so a dedicated weekend is a dream for me. Last year was the first time I got to dress up for the full weekend and my three costumes were fantastic, if I do say so myself. This year, my Halloween will be much tamer, but perhaps I’ll take the chance to actually embrace the season and watch a scary movie! Highly unlikely, but wishful thinking doesn’t hurt. I’m still consuming a lot of Andrew Garfield content (post to come), listening to Chromkopia on repeat and really loving tuna melts. Happy reading!

READING

  1. Sebastien Stan and Jeremy Strong for Vogue: I just have to start off by saying that I LOVE the way Jeremy is styled in this interview. I’m having a revival obsession with him, not enough to watch The Apprentice, but probably enough to start rewatching Succession. Very interesting to learn that Roy Cohn was a Patrick Bateman of sorts, in terms of his obsession with his physical appearance. Also, the fact that Sebastien Stan’s mom’s friend didn’t like his pink Valentino look for the 2022 Met Gala is brutal. I thought it was fantastic.

  2. Billie Eilish for Vogue: Biggest takeaway is that Billie is now having fun on tour, and I’m happy that what used to be such a treacherous experience for her now brings her joy! Still deeply upset I won’t be seeing her on this tour, but one day… When it happens, y’all will know- trust. Also, the suiting for this shoot is impeccable, specifically the golden yellow Bottega Veneta suit. She looks unreal.

  3. Mikey Madison for Interview: Impatiently waiting for the movie to come out in theaters. After hearing about the care Mikey took to play her character, it just confirmed this is a movie meant for big screens.

  4. Italy, Perverts & Near Death: This story is so interesting, and I might pay $7 for the Substack off of reading this alone. It’s about the perverted nature of men in Sicily and how this lesbian couple and their four-year-old son navigated their experience there. I believe it’s fully fictional, but it also feels really real. Matt Star, the founder of Dream Baby Press and the author of the story, has a poetry book that I’m now tempted to buy.

EATING

  1. Chickpeas and kale: I’ve been feeling relatively lazy and uninspired with my cooking lately, so of course I’ve resorted to bean heavy meals because they’re quick and easy. Sautéing chickpeas and kale has been a go to. I season with fresh garlic, salt, black pepper, cumin and paprika and top with a little chili oil. It’s satisfying every time! Also yes, that’s my strawberry, pineapple, banana smoothie in a mug.

PLAYING

  1. Zach Fox Boiler Room: This entire thing was insane, but my favorite part was the gospel music interlude, because it was so funny to have a praise session in the middle of the set but also fit in so well with the tracks he had already laid down. Just watch the whole thing, you won’t regret it.

  2. Charli xcx for Apple Music: I’ve never listened to her do an interview, so this was nice to just hear her talk more about her artistry. Her accent is so cute. She covers a lot in this interview, but the one thing that stood out to me the most is her saying that she talks about her music in terms of marketing and how to give it to fans, which is so apparent with brat rollout and part of why it was so successful. There are moments when she’s humble in this interview, and other moments when I’m like “Yes, fellow Leo, I see you”.

OBSESSING

  1. Offkut Studio 365 skirt: Asymmetrical design, toolbelt-esque detail, ruched tier- what’s not to love?

  2. Geel Sully top in pink: I’m getting back into a pink phase and this simple but classy design has me hooked. I would wear this to my hypothetical job.

RECOMMENDING

  1. Morning Vinyl House Set: This was a great set to have on in the background while I did work! Also, the way it was shot was just so cozy and cute. I miss having big meals with friends!!!

TREATING

  1. Red sweater from Buffalo Exchange: I think I told someone this, possibly Will or Sydney when in California, but I had recently added a red and white striped sweater to my fall “to buy” list. I saw a girl on Pinterest with the cutest red and white sweater and it’s been stuck in my head since. I found this really cute on ThreadUp but someone bought it, so it was just my luck that the thrifting gods bestowed upon me this beautiful rugby style red and white/cream striped sweater at Buffalo Exchange yesterday. It’s lined on the inside so it’s really cozy, which will be perfect if Texas ever decides to drop below 70 degrees, and the fit is perfect. Thoroughly happy about this purchase!! It was so exciting to cross this item off my list.
