Jil Sander, you will always be famous to me: MFW SS25 Recap

Brands did massive collections this season, I’m noticing, as in 60+ looks. I guess inspiration was really flowing this season, and wow am I grateful!

However, I have horrible trend news- military is in. I was so scared that the 2014 army green jacket that everyone somehow had was going to come back that I didn't realize it was already here. After PFW, I’ll do a more consolidated and detailed trend recap of what’s upcoming for the spring based on collections, fashion editors and my takeaways. I limited myself to my top seven favorite shows and only five looks from each collection (except Jil Sander, I had to show six because it was just so good) but each brand really came to show up and show out!

Some honorable mentions: Tom Ford, Sportmax, Bottega Veneta, Marni, Moschino, Etro, DSquared2

Del Core: Throw me in the ocean wearing this collection, please and thank you. The silhouette of the skirt in the second pictures, the color scheme, the coat in the third picture? Simple and stunning.

Jil Sander: Gun to my head, if I had to choose a favorite collection, it would be Jil Sander’s and I’m sad more people aren’t talking about it. The coat in the second picture lives rent free in my head and I would wear outfit four in its entirety off the runway. I love the simple, gelled hair and the consistency of the belts across the looks. Ugh, I want this whole collection.

Prada: I feel like I’m going crazy because I swear, I’ve seen the second look green pea coat on a celebrity or in a movie or SOMETHING similar and it’s driving me insane. I can’t stop thinking about the coat. Anyways, this collection is so fun. I love the nautical inspiration in outfit one and the fake printed belt and bug sunglasses in the third outfit. The hot pink, butter yellow and deep eggplant purple is a nasty (positive connotation) little color combo that I want to replicate.

Fendi: The bags in this collection make me cry that I’m not luxury fashion rich. I haven’t stopped thinking about the first green bag that kind of looks like a bouquet of flowers. The beautiful mesh in looks two and three are so delicate. Outfit three I would wear right off the runway- the embroidery/beading hanging on top of the little shorts and matching on the bag is just too good.

Tod’s: This collection delivered evolved pieces that play with silhouette, have a strong color palette, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. The coat in the third image? A NEED. These outfits are just cool, and I can’t really explain why I love them so much, but I do.

Versace: The prints! The slink, sexy dresses with demure little cutouts! The layering! Outfit three is pure perfection. The 60s and 70s influence in this collection is apparent, and I will say quite a few of the looks were very Missoni. However, I think by the end of the collection, it felt a little more distinctly Versace.

Ferragamo: If you are not talking about this collection, you are talking about the wrong things. Perfect from start to finish, some of the references are overt but done so beautifully. Maximillian Davis, you have done it once again.
