Paris Fashion Week FW25

I would be remiss to not mention Doechii’s fantastic ensembles for PFW. Sam Woolf, her stylist, needs to get some sort of award for his styling. Also, I think it’s kismet that she has two i’s in her name and he was two o’s in his.

Brands in bold are my faves brands of the week, and any collection I don’t include images for is linked. A post about overall trends for the fall/winter season and what I’m wearing this spring coming very soon!

Honorable Mention: Isabel Marant, Tom Ford, Zimmerman, Rabanne

Alaia: I saw the first look and immediately thought “This is going to be such a weird collection and I’m going to love it”. I was right! These rounded cushion headpieces remind me of airport shoulder/neck supports and I love them. I love the rounded waist skirts, and the pleats are stunning. The black corded vest with the purple skirt is so beautiful and intricately woven. Some of the pieces are very simple, but in that simplicity, there’s still intrigue. The collection is just gorgeous, and the manipulation of fabric is so well-done in typical Alaïa fashion.

Balmain: I love the oversized coats and the extremely baggy and tall boots. This collection uses texture and patterns in really interesting ways, and I’m interested to see the sort of clientele that wears this off-runway, because I think there’s a certain kind of swagger needed to pull these off. The detail of the models having their hand through the belt on the clutch bags is tickling just the right spot in my brain, thanks Olivier Rousteing!

Chloe: I don’t love the quilted style pieces, but I do love the semi-exaggerated high shouldered jackets. This collection is a little vampier than previous from Chemena Kamali for Chloe, which I think was a smart move. The terracottas and mauves are interesting color choices for winter, but I don’t mind them. I love the little raccoon tails and fuzzy puff elements. Definitely a solid collection, with a lot of ensembles I loved, and a great continuation of the world-building Chemena is doing at Chloe.

Givenchy: This was Sarah Burton’s debut show for Givenchy after 26 years at Alexander Mcqueen. I wouldn’t say that it was the most jaw-dropping collection, but there were some silhouettes I really appreciated- specifically, the sharp shouldered suits that peplumed out. I also love the look that Loli is in with the giant gems that look like they’re dripping in a halter style top. I think it’s a more successful rendition of the dress earlier in the collection with the makeup compacts.

Hermes: I’m still figuring out the exact elements of this collection that are making me so fond of it. I think it just feels really wearable. If I was in the tax bracket to casually afford luxury clothing, I could truly see myself wearing a lot of these pieces. I love the use of colorful leather in the sets, and I’m OBSESSED with the leather V-neck midi dress.

Loewe: The rumors that Jonathan Anderson is leaving Loewe were only amplified by this collection, which was shown in a salon at Hôtel de Maisons instead of on a runway. He started his tenure at Loewe with a showroom presentation, and it seems, he’s ending it with one. The collection is described by Anderson on the Loewe Instagram as “an exploration of scale”, which is a perfect way to describe the intracacy of some of the pieces. The draping on the lavender dress is so dreamy and I can’t stop thinking about the leather jackets with belt cuffs at the wrist. A scrapbook of ideas: things old and new that are gathered at random to be preserved as memories or to serve as inspiration.” It sounds like a goodbye, but I’m delusionally holding out hope that it isn’t.

Miu Miu: I’m so in love with the styling for this show. I think overall it was a simpler collection, in terms of design elements, but the styling elevated every look. I really like the shades of teals, grays and mauves utilized across the collection, and there are “grandma” elements that are modernized in a really fun way.

Saint Laurent: I love the color blocking in this collection and how simple the garments are. They still have visual intrigue, and they just look luxurious on the models. I also think if you want to know what colors will be trending for the season, this collection lays it out beautifully.
