Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T 10/21

So much has happened in the two weeks I’ve been away. Liam Payne passed away. I went to the SWEAT tour and met Dom Dolla after the concert. I finished Tell Me Lies. I got rejected from a job I was feeling pretty confident about. California weather only exacerbated my hair falling out in little chunks. It seems like even on a mini vacation, life never slows down.

The weather is finally getting a little cooler here in Houston and I’m going to attempt to secure a semblance of Halloween plans. Emotionally, I’m feeling all over the place! This is a beefy report and it doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the Andrew Garfield press tour content I’ve consumed in the past few days since getting back home, enjoy xx

READING

  1. Sabrina Carpenter for Cosmopolitan: She’s performing in Houston in a week and I’m so deeply sad that I won’t get to see her. She looks absolutely gorgeous in this interview, as always, and I also really liked the interviewer’s writing style! I don’t like the red pillow sort of look, but the rest of them are quite enjoyable.

  2. Andrew Garfield for Esquire: This man should write poetry books because his use of the most descriptive, emotive words and his ability to string together the most endearing, heartfelt descriptions about people in his life is nothing short of poetic. I would hope that one day I could be even partially as eloquent and intentional with my word choice. He talks about his mom’s death, the success that followed in the years after, and how he’s navigated his fame and recognition in the industry. I don’t necessarily love the photography style and filtering for this interview, but the styling is solid. I mean when your subject is Andrew Garfield, he’s going to look great regardless. The interview is long but flows very well and wholly worth it if you’re even a quarter as interested in Andrew Garfield’s life as I am- a very rewarding read.

  3. Alex Consani for Interview: A very lighthearted interview, but you can definitely see that Alex was comfortable with Lyas so there were points that felt more honest and vulnerable. It’s insane to see someone I followed in Covid years now shoot to model superstardom but hey, that’s the Internet for you. She was made for the runway, so it just makes sense. The styling for this is so fun and playful! I want to know the redacted tea about the Ice Spice!!

EATING

  1. Oysters in San Francisco: I had oysters for the first time with Will in France, on his aunt’s farm, so it was only right that when visiting him in San Francisco, we went for oysters again! The oyster from Hook Fish was so fresh and delicious and perfectly salty. The oyster tour continued with Sydney at The Marshall Store. We were in the woods but also on the water and it was a beautiful little moment. Cheers to oysters with friends!

  2. Pizza from Detroit Square Pizza: Wow, this dough was insane. I’m not usually a pepperoni person, but it looked so perfectly greasy in the window that I caved and I’m glad I did. This double square slice was $9 and so filling, and I might have to make a trip to Detroit if all their pizza tastes like this!!

  3. Pastries in San Francisco: I love pastries, a trait inherited from my mother who is a sweets fanatic, and I had to indulge myself whilst in SF which happens to be a bakery filled city. My favorite was easily the apple croissant from B.Patisserie but the chausson au pomme I had at La Boulangerie in Hayes was deliciously reminiscent of Paris.

PLAYING

  1. Andrew Garfield for Esquire on YouTube: He’s so humble and charismatic, and I will be devouring all of the press until I see We Live in Time. Him with this lion mane and beard, wow. I would be so happy if he ever started a YouTube channel and I don’t care what he would talk about. Also, he’s in a band? As if I couldn’t love him any more…

  2. The Marias on Tiny Desk: Maria’s enchanting siren voice literally almost made me cry. I am truly regretting not going to their concert in Houston this summer. I was having a hard time rationalizing the price of the concert for the venue it was being held at but honestly, I should have just sucked it up.

  3. Andrew Garfield on Chicken Shop Date: I could write an essay on this video, not even kidding. This entire interview is Andrew trying to probe Amelia and get her to abandon her schtick long enough to see if she’s truly interested in dating him and Amelia fighting to hold on to her bit for dear life and ultimately failing. Andrew is so aware of her Chicken Shop formula and doesn’t care that he’s disrupting it. I think what’s even better is that they openly discuss this dynamic in the interview. Andrew asks if she’s upset that he knows all of her little games and doesn’t care- she says no and that it’s funny. While most of me was giddy watching the interview, part of me was anxious that them doing this date had ruined their chances of actually dating since Andrew’s a very private person, which Andrew brings up in the date. It was just so entertaining to see him genuinely try to get to know her, her desires in a relationship, and call her out on her bit all while she’s trying to stay in character. I don’t know much about the rest of their astrological charts, but if you want to see a textbook dynamic between a Leo man and an Aquarius woman on display, this is the interview to watch. Honestly, psych professors should include this interview as part of their curriculum, because this coupled with their past interviews that showcase the insane tension, are worth dissecting. Okay enough about this but really, I hope they go on a real date with no cameras (as Andrew tenderly requested a million times in this interview) and fall in love and live happily ever after.

OBSESSING

  1. Mode Mischief gray sweatsuit: I’ve been seeing their Vivienne top everywhere, and I’m deeply in love with it, but their gray sweatsuit set is perfect in my eyes.  I hate sweatpants that cinch at the bottom, and I’ve been buying literally anything and everything in gray. People who know me know I don’t ever, EVER wear sweatpants outside of my house and I haven’t owned a pair in a couple of years. I’m so extremely picky about sweatpants, and don’t really do athleisure or sleepwear generally, so liking a sweatsuit is rare. However, this set seems like great material and kind of classy (whatever that looks like in a sweatsuit), so it’s definitely on my Christmas wish list.

  2. This top from Planet Earth: As you can see, I want it in every color. I think this is like my perfect top. It’s girly but could easily be dressed to fit different aesthetics. It’s form fitting, full length, and has a slightly interesting neckline. Christmas wish list item, for sure.

RECOMMENDING

  1. Finneas for Apple Music: I am so deeply grateful for this album and I will be listening to it aggressively this fall. Zane actually lets Finneas speak in this interview, and Finneas also carves out that space for himself, and I’m so happy I got to hear him dissect his music. I’ve been listening to Finneas for as long as Billie and he deserves all the flowers in the world for his work as a singer-songwriter, producer, and amazing talent. If you love Finneas and want to see his wit, intelligence and sincerity on display, give this a watch.

  2. Having faith in creative abundance: Going through another phase where I’m not really trusting my intuition or God’s plan for my future. This article was grounding and a motivating read. Some quotes that resonated:

    • “But the path to our dream is never a straight path. It can be humiliating, discouraging, terrifying, just as it’s exhilarating.”

    • “I think you have to practice the exact thing you want to be good at.”

TREATING

  1. These gems from Haight St. shopping: I spent most of the afternoon October 10th shopping on Haight Street, which I’ll talk about more in my upcoming California recap post. This top is just the most fun graphic and Protocol had a lot of these Hayes tees in their store. I almost got a graphic tank top instead of this, but the armpits were a bit snug. I also picked up these Union Bay shorts from 2nd Street which are so cute and comfortable! Also, as previously mentioned (I think), I’m obsessed with the color gray right now. I wish I had found them earlier so I could wear them in the summer, but I’m excited to find ways to style them for fall.
