Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T 10/7

I’m missing Kaytranada and Remi Wolf playing in Houston this weekend because I’ll be in California starting on Wednesday. I planned this entire trip around the fact that Sophia and I bought SWEAT tour tickets back in like April in LA. However, people all over my TikTok say that the SWEAT tour was “life-changing”, so I’m confident it will be worth it. Another concert I’m missing is Billie’s but that’s because she isn’t touring in Texas at all. The videos are absolutely killing me. I might actually do a full post on artists' refusal to come to the South because while well intentioned, it definitely disadvantages fans and doesn’t necessarily have the impact they want it to. It also ties into why Chappell’s mission to prioritize the Midwest and the South is so important and valued.

Currently thinking about Cooper Koch and Harris Dickinson. Next weekly report will be on October 21 since I’ll be out of town! Xoxo, Faith

READING

  1. Interview with Industry creators: Yes, mentally I’m still here. I always read Vulture’s weekly Industry recaps but for the finale, I legitimately consumed any piece of written media I could find. This interview with the creators of the show discussing the finale and plans for season 4, was extremely satisfying and confirmed a lot of assumptions I had made about characters. It gave me so much to think about and I’ll be digesting their interpretations of the characters for a while. I’m genuinely grateful to God this show has been renewed and that I get to live in the same timeline as it- that sounds dramatic, but I’m being wholly serious.

  2. Omar Apollo for HighSnobiety: Truthfully, the styling for this shoot is uninspired so I was more focused on the interview itself, which is probably my favorite I’ve read of Omar’s. You just get to learn a lot about him and his upbringing!

  3. Outer Banks boys for Cosmo: Jonathan Daviss has actually never looked better. His styling in this shoot is ridiculously good and I think he outshines the group quite easily. However, they all look fantastic, although the poses they have Drew doing are a little juvenile. I’ve never read an interview about this cast, so this was really interesting to learn more about them as actors, how they approach their character and how the show has impacted their future or current projects.

EATING

  1. Snickerdoodle cookies: I have never baked something and not had an aspect of the recipe go wrong. This time, I left the butter out for too long, making my wet mixture this despicable consistency, so I had to add around ⅓ cup more flour to the recipe. I also had to roll each cookie ball in flour to get it to properly shape up and be thrown into the cinnamon sugar. I decided to chill the cookies, because I was worried they wouldn’t shape well because of my butter mishap, and I didn’t flatten them before putting them in the oven. All of this babbling to say, they turned out beautifully! Chilling them made the cookies so fluffy and pillowy. I definitely will use a little less sugar when I make them because they’re just a little too sweet, but I honestly think my flour addition saved them from being incredibly rich. It all worked out in the end!

  2. Double browned gnocchi: I call it double brown because it’s brown butter and brown sugar gnocchi. I didn’t have sage so I crisped up some garlic and parsley, which was genius on my part. Finished it off with a sprinkle of asiago and wow, I could have had eight more bowls of this. The pool of butter at the bottom… so indulgent but so, so good.

PLAYING

  1. Harry Lawtey & Kit Harrington interview: INDUSTRY IS DOING PRESS I REPEAT, INDUSTRY IS DOING PRESS!!! I love them so bad. It’s also fun to watch this because Harry hasn’t seen season 2, so this was great to see him dissecting him and Kit’s work. Kit is so charismatic, and they just bounced off of each other really well in this. It once again reminded me that the season is over, and season 4 is far in the horizon, so I fear a rewatch might be in order…

  2. Harry Lawtey & Marisa Abela for ELLE Uk: A short little interview but very cutesy! His eyes are so insanely blue in this interview and I think it’s because he dyed his hair darker. It suits him.

  3. Grotesquerie on Hulu: To be fully transparent, I don’t understand the cult obsession with Nicholas Chavez (Cooper Koch however, I am newly loving), but I kept seeing clips of him in Grotesquerie, so I decided to watch. I’m not big on horror, but the biblical imagery is really interesting and Niecy Nash’s portrayal as Lois makes for a very compelling watch. Safe to say I’m hooked! I still hate Ryan Murphy as a producer and refuse to watch Monsters, but Grotesquerie might be my foray into horror this spooky season.

OBSESSING

  1. After the First Kiss by Faye Webster: She’s so in love and the songs we’re getting as a result are so tender and beautiful. If someone wrote this song about me, I would crumble.

  2. Fillyboo: This brand is so Southern coded, and I could also see this on like the Instagram of the girl from your hometown who’s on vacation in Italy. And yet, for some reason, I love these four pieces.

RECOMMENDING

  1. For Cryin’ Out Loud by FINNEAS: My current favorites are What’s It Gonna Take To Break Your Heart, Little Window and Sweet Cherries. I still can’t place what the album makes me feel exactly, but sonically I’m really enjoying it! Definitely an album I’ll be re-listening to for the next few weeks.

TREATING

  1. Goodwill haul: The thrifts have actually been pretty kind to me these past few weeks but let me not speak too soon. And yes, all of these items are coming with me to California!
