Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T 12/25
Merry Christmas! I made the most fantastic Christmas spread, featured below, and it was just such a lovely and joyous day. Spirits are high, and with Sophia coming to visit next week for her birthday which happens to be New Year’s Day, I think the energy going into 2025 is going to be great.
The past two weeks have been an absolute fucking blur. I’ve been house/pet sitting for the past week in a neighborhood about an hour away from my house, and still working at Anthro, so my schedule has been all over the place. I’ve been doing a lot of driving, watching a ton of Actors on Actors and Gossip Girl. This house is kind of secluded in a neighborhood that has ranches and farms, and this partial isolation has been quite peaceful despite my hectic scheduling. Might expand more on this in another post but just know that Minoux (an orange cat) and I are equally obsessed with each other and have mutual cuteness aggression.
My stomach is full and my heart is happy, enjoy!
READING
Cooper Koch for PAPER: Learning he fell asleep to the sound of Erik’s testimony is a little worrying, but his dedication can’t be denied that’s for sure. The styling is super playful and sexy, which fits his persona well. I think he consistently handles questions about the show and about the Menedez brothers so eloquently and in every interview, you can tell he’s truly trying to portray their story with care, which usually doesn’t happen with high profile, controversial cases like this. I say this rarely, but I really love the poses in this shoot! They’re not just limbs flailing randomly, but they are visually interesting. He seems like a sweetie!
Jonathan Bailey for WhoWhatWear": This interview reminded me how much I love Jonathan Bailey and, while I was previously deeply uninterested in seeing Wicked, I think for him, I’m willing to give it a go in theaters. The styling and photography in this are great, but when you have a subject like Jonathan, your job is definitely made easy.
Tyler, the Creator for Billboard: I think it’s really interesting that Tyler initially underestimated the positive reception this album would get from his listeners. I think the album rollout including all the visuals, the CHROMAKOPIA trucks driving around the country, the pop-up performances, cultivated genuine excitement in a way that he didn’t anticipate and his artistry was rewarded when CHROMAKOPIA dropped. He doesn’t do interviews often, so this is a must read for anyone who loves him, his evolution and/or the album.
EATING
Yogurt bowl: Plain greek yogurt, Costco granola, frozen berries (raspberries, blueberries and blackberries), pomegranate seeds and honey. DIVINE.
Christmas spread: Truly, I outdid myself this year. Everything turned out perfectly and on time, which was a surprise especially because I was trying out new things in the kitchen (aka using the grill and cast iron skillet). Okay, I’ll admit that I didn’t actually touch the grill and that my brother and uncle handled it for me, but still, directing them was important. As usual, I did the sides and appetizers while my mom and brother handled the meats (prime rib and ham, equally delicious). I made bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers and grilled corn dip for appetizers, which fit kind of perfectly with the atmosphere of football in the background. For the sides, I made a big and heart Christmas salad, sweet potatoes on a bed of whipped goat cheese topped with brown butter, sage and walnuts, and a mushroom risotto.
PLAYING
Interview with a Vampire: I finished season 1 of Interview with a vampire. It’s really entertaining, and at times quite graphic, but as someone who watched three seasons of The Boys, it was nothing I couldn’t stomach. Louis is such an intoxicating unreliable narrator that you can’t help but root for, and I’m interested to see how he and Claudia navigate the move in the absence of Lestat.
Billie’s Tiny Desk: This acoustic set is an absolute dream. I love you specifically is so tender and heart wrenching sung acoustically. Tiny Desk continues to deliver and so do the Eilish siblings.
Billie Eilish same interview, eighth year for Vanity Fair: Through this interview I just kept thinking, what a beautiful time capsule Billie has to look back on her life. I honestly wish I had something like this, because I think the difference just a year makes is incomprehensible when you’re in that year. We feel like a year means nothing, but really so much happens that is impossible to recognize the significance until it’s over.
OBSESSING
Fur coats: As long as I’m in Texas, I will have absolutely no reason, weather, special event or otherwise, to wear a fur coat but goddamn are they gorgeous. This brown one has been living in my mind rent free since I saw it- I genuinely have dreamt about it. But, I’d also love something in a honey brown sort of shade that’s a little bit lighter with a big collar. If I got lucky enough to have a fur coat with a hood? Goodnight, I’d be insufferable.
ATJ for Brittany’s Royal Court: I’ve never watched an interview with him but holy cow, I’m in love- he’s so charismatic and funny. He talks like a 22 year old man, like he’s just so silly! He plays into Britney’s weirdness in such a delightful way and I’m so excited to go down a rabbit hole of his interviews. Him randomly yelling “Squire!” in his silly accent was killing me. Hot and a personality? Sign me up.
Yehao for Wonderland editorial: After GQ China’s iconic Heat Stroke editorial, I followed Yehao, one of the delicious models, on Instagram. When I saw that he was in another campaign with the same photographer from the Heat Stroke shoot, Wintam, I knew I’d be in for a treat. Iconic work, once again. The minimal set design allows the clothes to shine and contributes to an isolated winter setting where Yehao is fighting through a grueling snow sludge, and looking gorgeous while doing it. Styling is impeccable, makeup and art direction is exquisite- I can’t wait to work on a shoot like this. Speaking it into existence!
RECOMMENDING
Finneas on Therapuss with Jake Shane: I’ve watched a couple episodes of Therapuss in the past and this was by far my favorite. I didn’t know Finneas was a lifelong vegetarian! He’s so communicative and aware about his feelings, and his honesty is refreshing. He’s an intentional question asker, a great listener (which is highlighted in the interview by Jake) and his witty, unintentionally funny character comes across consistently in both his written and video interviews. Him getting the 411 on the Real Housewives/Bravo universe by Jake was too good.
TREATING
New scarf: I think most of my scarves are from Thrifted Threads, they’re $5 and have so many prints. It also came with a complementary ice cream sandwich, how fun!
