Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T 12/9
Watching Dune Prophecy as I’m posting this! Nothing is happening but everything is happening. I’m trying to live less in my head and be more present in day-to-day life. I’ve recently purchased navy nail polish and a navy phone case- it’s my latest color obsession, as my newest purchases will corroborate.
READING
photography from Dazed
Drew Starkey for Dazed, Esquire: He’s everywhere right now, and I don’t mind! He seems like a sincere person and I’m very intrigued to look back on his career in a few years and see if this period is the turning point for his career. The styling for the Esquire shoot is fun, but the styling and photography combination for the Dazed shoot is addictive. Drew’s already a good-looking guy but Aidan Zamiri, the photographer and director for some of Billie Eilish’s music videos, used the beautiful canvas of a man and worked his magic. Also, I just learned that he’s 31, which makes him solidly a Millennial.
Harris Dickinson for Dazed: This is a really great interview of Harris, talking about his upcoming role in Babygirl, and how he got his start in the industry. He’s such an intentional and witty conversationalist, but he also doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously. I don’t mind the black and white photography, and the styling is good! Not necessarily exciting, but solid. I’m amped to see Babygirl whenever it comes out in theaters.
EATING
Butter Christmas cookies: I need someone to take these away from me because December has barely begun, and I’ve already plowed through these cookie tins. Not only are they buttery soft and delicious, but they’re so festive! Like, it’s not the season if you aren’t devouring these with some tea or hot chocolate.
PLAYING
English Teacher on Hulu: While I was quite disturbed by Brian Alvarez’s weird dancing Tiktok to watch this show but somehow found myself watching the show anyways. There’s only one season out now, but it’s actually really funny and endearing. The references are topical, the dynamic between characters feels real, and I enjoyed diving into the environment of a schoolteacher. Perhaps this will be the kick I need to finally start Abbott Elementary.
Matthew Macfayden on Dish Waitrose: I saw a clip of Matthew discussing his wife’s sandwich preference on Tiktok and decided to watch the full video on YouTube. I’ve never watched this channel before, but always love the format of interviews given over food (Hot Ones, Chicken Shop Date etc.) Matthew Macfayden seems really grounded and lovely! Learning that Jesse Armstrong was scared to tell Brian Cox that he was killing off Logan is so hysterical.
OBSESSING
Doechii Tiny Desk Concert: DOECHII TAKEOVER 2025 PLEASE! This is one of the best Tiny Desk’s I’ve ever seen. This, plus the beautiful choreography from her Stephen Colbert performance- she is a visionary and I’m just grateful to be a witness. The rock energy in Catfish, Nissan Altima at 2x speed?? Perfection. Also, the entire band having the same beaded cornrow hairstyle is giving me life!!! Truly a historic set.
Harris Dickinson for GQ Italia: He has never looked better. Gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, showstopping, never-seen-before. This little video on their YouTube is also cheeky and entertaining.
RECOMMENDING
Susie Lola Winter Coat Collection: This is less applicable for me and friends in the South, but if you are in a city with cold weather right now, this could be very helpful! I love seeing how people build their winter coat collections, and Susie has a great spread from furs to trench coats to thick parkas. I am so obsessed with her editing style. When I figure out my laptop storage issue and can really get into the nitty gritty with video editing, trust, I will be using her as a blueprint.
TREATING
Beautiful bracelet and necklace set: I was treated to this beautiful jewelry from my step-grandmother (I’m not sure if I’m doing that lineage math correctly but it’s my mom’s brother’s mom, they don’t have the same mom obviously). It fits perfectly into my jewelry collection, and I’m especially excited about the beautiful stone necklace.
Van Leeuwen pistachio ice cream & Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough mix: Period cravings. Enough said.
How lucky am I that Harris and Drew were paired together for the upcoming Actors on Actors? I can’t wait to kick my feet and giggle for an hour in what I’m sure will become compliment city and them unintentionally competing for who can appear more humble. Sending all my love this week, I hope everyone is staying nice and cozy!
