Wait guys, I think it’s actually going to be okay
This is essentially a thought dump Thursday, except I’m not posting it on a Thursday!
In this post you can enjoy my thoughts on:
STL alumni weekend recap
My fashion predictions that came true
Interesting articles I’ve read

A) STL alumni weekend recap
Going into the weekend, I was not-so-secretly anxious to see people from college that I wasn’t necessarily friends with and have to answer the “What are you up to/where are you now” question. However, I quickly realized that it wasn’t that serious, and most people were very neutral about their jobs. I don’t think I can recall one person I spoke to that was ecstatic about their job situation, and everyone was more focused on what they enjoyed about the city or the friends they’d made in their new cities. It was comforting and reminded me that the other option outside of constantly having to “figure things out”, the liminal space I’ve occupied for the last year, is joining the rat race of corporate life. I obviously knew this senior year and turned down the opportunity to join said rat race, even though I would’ve been in New York, and I’m still grateful that’s the decision I made. Anyways, I walked into the weekend anxious and walked out feeling somehow more motivated to strive for the life I dream of myself, and not the capitalist hellscape many people are reluctantly pushed into, especially at a school like WashU. Aside from these revelations, I spent the weekend with my absolute favorite people in a very stormy and partially flooding St. Louis. God bless my Urban Outfitters zip-up I bought the day before I left and my pink mini umbrella for keeping my straightened hair intact. I love the feeling of returning to a place that feels comfortable and doing predictable things. Everything is a “classic”. Pictures below because I’m obsessed with my friends and how much fun we have together. Cheers to many more reunions to come!
B) My fashion predictions came true
Layering basics has been a trend for the past year or so, and my prediction was that brands would start selling tops that mimicked this idea of layering. It wasn’t a crazy stance for me to take, but happy to see my Spidey-fashion senses are still accurate! Gimaguas, a brand who is usually at the forefront of more niche trends such as this, has quite a few pieces that mimic multi-layering and Peachy Den has created top sets that are essentially meant to be layered on top of each other. I really love this style of layering, and I think it’ll be easy to recreate with thrifted pieces.
C) Interesting articles I’ve read
Tr*mp vs big law: Article discussing how the president is squeezing massive law firms who have previously represented clients who have sued him. He’s making them sign what are essentially plea deals so they can continue to practice under his administration and making them guarantee a set number of millions in pro bono work for him.
Major trends in marketing: Very holistic overview of trends happening in branding this year. Biggest focuses for me were tastemaker focus and silver generation, the latter of which I talked about in this article I wrote for Hustle Magazine. Tastemaker focus feels personally relevant because that’s what I aim to cultivate my personal brand to be. Fun stuff!
D) Fashion companies getting involved in the film industry
Saint Laurent established a subsidiary devoted to making movies
Made its debut at Cannes in May of 2023
Tied itself with David Cronenberg and Paolo Sorrentino
Produced Strange Way of Life, 30-minute gay Western by Pedro Almdóvar
Infamously, they co-produced Emilia Perez
Article also talks about Saint Laurent’s long-standing connection to the film industry
Bulgari has been funding documentary shorts since 2018 and became the official jeweler of the Tribeca Film Festival the same year
LVMH partnered with Superconnector Studios in 2024 to create 22 Montaigne Entertainment
Chanel supported the production of Megalopolis, long intertwined in the industry but now making larger financial investments
