Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T 6/24: I can’t stop consuming Billie Eilish content

I was in Austin for the weekend! As much as I’ll die on the hill that Houston is better than Austin, I had the loveliest time. I’m woman enough to admit that going out in Austin is miles more fun than in Houston- shoutout to Barbarella for playing Guess and Good Luck, Babe.

READING

  1. Billie’s interview with Lana: Starting off this Billie heavy report with her interview for Interview Magazine. It’s such an enjoyable read and as someone who is so in love with this album, I’m eating up any media talking about it. The blue eyeliner look in the white ERL top lives rent-free in my head. Her eyes are already insane but with the bright cobalt eyeliner, wow.

  2. Glen Powell interview with Matthew McConaughey: Enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! Matthew is actually quite a good interviewer, and it was cute to see their mentor-mentee relationship come through Glen’s answers.

  3. Climate anxiety article from Pscyhe: It’s a little longer, and slightly elementary when it comes to categorizing emotions, but still a helpful article. Also, Psyche is such a cool website. It posts articles that all relate to psychology or utilize psychology to explain certain things. It has articles categorized into three sections and has interesting book and website resources. There’s also a ton of sub-sections including guides, ideas and films. Websites like these have been so helpful to keep me reading while I’m procrastinating my book.

EATING

  1. Steak and jalapeno queso from Matt’s El Rancho (Austin): Yes, I’m not supposed to be eating red meat this month. Technically, I already broke it on Jenna’s birthday because I had a breakfast pizza with sausage on it. Her parents ordered it for the table, and it was so good, so I don’t regret it. Anyways, this queso was fantastic and I consider this Austin weekend a little vacation. No rules on vacay!

  2. Edamame: Had edamame that I liked for the first time this weekend at Kome (Austin). I think it’s because they were soft, and the outside was perfectly salty. Highly recommend Kome; the service was great, and food was delish.

PLAYING

  1. Billie and Alex Wolff interview: Their dynamic is comical to watch, and you can see how close they are from this short interview.

  2. Billie & Finneas Apple Music interview: I told y’all this was a Billie heavy REPORT. I watched this entire thing and still wanted more! Hearing them talk about their process, the songwriting bumps in the road, trying out new production etc. was so fulfilling. Yummy, delicious, 10/10 and Zane Lowe killed it as always.

  3. The Cutting Room Floor: The newest episode with Colm Dillane, the creative director of KidSuper, is such a good watch. I was really intrigued to listen because in my head, Recho and Colm’s personalities and perspectives of the fashion industry differ so it was cool to hear them kind of debate certain topics. As someone who started in streetwear and has now elevated his brand, I think Kolm has knowledge that you don’t get from typical fashion pathways and it’s refreshing to hear his takes.

OBSESSING

  1. Austin Butler in The Bikeriders press: I don’t even really know what this movie is about but trust, I will be seated in a theater later this week to see it. Beautiful man. Enough said.

  2. Nikon Coolpix L3 digital camera: I really want another digital camera and this Nikon came recommended from Tiktok. I’ve been scouring eBay high and low and have found some cheap ones that are in good condition.

  3. Lexxola sunglasses: I need them! Expensive but such cutesy and fun frames.

RECOMMENDING

  1. The Submarine by the Marias: It’s addictive and a perfect summer album. I think my current favorite songs are Hamptons and Run Your Mouth but I’m sure it’s bound to change throughout the summer. Will be on repeat until further notice.

TREATING

  1. Long dark wash jorts: Crossed an item off my summer “to buy“ list! I went to this vintage store Bent Vintage, in Houston, and I found the perfect pair of long dark wash jorts. The brand is Southpole and they’re super comfortable and tent-like. I’ve already been outfit planning with them and I’m excited for their DC debut!

  2. Fancy cocktails at Midnight Cowboy: Speakeasy in Austin and the cocktail I ordered was made tableside! I always forget whether or not I like Mezcal, which was one of the main ingredients, but the smokiness was nice and I loved the rosemary.
