Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T 7/1

I hate to disappoint but I won’t be doing Love Island recaps anymore. I’m still watching, now both UK and US, and always down to discuss, especially with Casa Amor coming up. I’ll be in DC for the next week to reunite with my roomies (WOOO) so the next weekly REPORT will be July 15th. Also, I’m not finishing Bridgerton season 3, oops! I’m not invested, don’t plan on watching the next season and want to finish Invincible season 2 so I can catch up on The Bear. Okay, enough updates!

READING

  1. Chace Crawford for Interview Magazine: Cute read! I didn’t know he went to Pepperdine but it checks. Didn’t shock me that he tried out for the quarterback in Friday Night Lights- I haven’t watched the show but I know he would’ve channeled his Lubbock roots well. The styling for this interview, however, wasn’t satisfying. I just want to talk to whoever thought it was a good idea for his dogs to be out on the carpet… horrid.

  2. Laundry Day for GQ: For those who don’t know, Laundry Day is one of my favorite small bands. It’s partially embarrassing because my friend Luther went to high school with them, but alas, I can’t help that the world is small. I saw them twice in NYC last summer, once with Audrey and once solo, and they’re great live performers.

EATING

  1. Olives: I used to be an adamant olive hater but after a life-changing charcuterie board at 67 Kapitali in Malta, I’ve slowly become more accustomed to the taste. This past week was the first time I bought olives for myself, and they’ve been fun to put in salads and bean dishes. Green olives are my preference, the purple ones I’m still coming around too.

PLAYING

  1. What a Devastating Turn of Events by Rachel Chinouriri: This album just grows on you the more you listen. She’s opening for Remi Wolf later this fall and I desperately would love to see them both. Her lyricism is witty, her tone is unique and the production is the good kind of weird. Current favorite song off the album is It Is What It Is.

  2. Upstairs Neighbors podcast: I listened to the first episode of this while I was painting on Saturday, and I was cackling the whole time. Just two girls chatting away, and it reminded me of the chaotic scenes with my friends and I when we’re chatting in someone’s living room and progressively getting louder as the conversation gets funnier. They also have the video versions of each episode on Youtube. Eager to add this into my podcast rotation.

OBSESSING

  1. Crochet skull caps: A cute, lightweight accessory for the summertime. Etsy has a navy one that I really like but it’s from Turkey so I fear shipping will take forever.

  2. Lisa Says Gah: I was browsing their website the other day and wow, they have so many of the items/styles that are on my summer “to buy” list or look similar to items on my summer Pinterest board. The little red swim-style shorts are too cute. Price tag is hefty so buying one of these pieces might have to be an early birthday gift for myself.

RECOMMENDING

  1. Boarders on Tubi: I finished season 1 in one day. Such a good show. I’ve said it before- foreign high-school based shows just do it better!! It’s about these five black, gifted, high school kids from South London that get a scholarship to go to a preppy, white boarding school. Toby was my favorite character; his comedic timing was unmatched. Highly recommend.

  2. Article about money and creative work: As someone who is struggling trying to find a job, or generally just a future lifestyle, that balances both, this was really motivating. Being someone who wants to take on creative projects, it’s so difficult to activate and motivate that side of your brain when the other side is constantly focused on how to make enough money to sustain yourself in an economy with decreasing wages and skyrocketing inflation. I think a quote that really resonated with me is “don’t get good at things you don’t want to get good at”. Recommend for any creative.

TREATING

  1. Small gold cross necklace: I’ve been wanting a small gold, pendant necklace for a while because my everyday gold necklace is a little long for some shirt necklines so this one should hit a little shorter on my chest. Unfortunately, it’s getting here after my DC trip but I’m excited to wear it when I return. Etsy is goated as always.
