Reading leftovers ft. Interview Magazine articles only
I’ve been doing a lot of online reading recently, so I wanted to include these four articles I read last week, all from Interview Magazine!
Role Model’s musical influences: I saw a snippet of Role Model’s Zane Lowe Apple interview and didn’t realize that Mac Miller had been such a big influence and mentor in his career. I love these Sound Advice interviews from Interview because they include playlists on Spotify from the interviewees. He’s extra sassy in this interview but his new album is so vulnerable and endearing so I’ll give him a pass.
Drew Starkey at the Loewe show: Drew confirming he and Omar Apollo are friends is too cute. Love that he actually knew about the collection and compared it to the January show inspired by Richard Hawkins. Observant man and the sweater he wore to attend the show- I would die for.
Brooklyn artist Derrick Adams: I’ve never heard of Derrick Adams, but I included the website which has a picture of the exhibit and the accompanying music curation intended for the space. According to the website:
““Holdout” is a real estate term for an owner of property in a row of acquired buildings who refuses to sell. Adams’s sculpture poetically references individuals within communities united as a wall of resistance and support. The installation and performative work acknowledges what is priceless and important to preserve in one’s own culture.” https://www.expressnewark.org/event/the-holdout/
Remi and Clairo talking about their new albums: Two music princesses discussing their beautiful albums. I need to give Big Ideas a re-listen. I’ve listened to it twice, but the second time was while I was sewing so I was partially distracted. I can’t believe that Remi didn’t write any lyrics beforehand and it was all created in the studio. That definitely requires a lot of trust in yourself. Also, Clairo is a great interviewer. Super enjoyable read.
