Caped, draped and grape purple: WIWTF

I don’t necessarily have a neat theme to box my fall mood board into but here are some scrambled ideas about what I’m loving!

  • Horseback riding in a rainy English day, Burberry way

  • On runway for the season I saw a ton of embroidery, beading, embellishments, hoop skirts, fur/silk with utilitarian juxtaposition

London & Milan FW25 Recap

Paris FW25 Recap

  • All things pirate-inspired in the vein of frills, ruffles, leather and lace etc

  • Fun jackets with a ton of pockets, zippers, a throat latch, big buttons etc.

Still hunting for some good flowy capris, and at some point soon I’ll resume my selvedge denim jeans hunt. I’m also still looking for dangly earrings, thin bangles and arm cuffs, and a fun loafer or Mary Jane or flat shoe of some sort. I’m becoming obsessed with the color purple, specifically grape purple and a berry magenta adjacent color. Even the lip combinations I’ve been loving on Pinterest have involved some sort of dark, berry purple liner. Purple all around!!! Also, zebra is coming back. I can’t say it’s something I’ll be wearing but trust me, it’s coming back. More below! Happy fall <3

Colors I’m loving

Photos I keep coming back to:

Specific items I’m loving

  1. Intimissimi long sleeves: The cooler weather is about to return and so is my love for the Intimissimi sheer long sleeve tops! I’ve mentioned these tops many times, but this will be the season I actually commit to getting one.

  2. Cropped peacoat with rounded collar: I mentioned peacoats in this weekly report, but this cropped peacoat from Niihai has been living in my dreams. I must thrift one just like this immediately.

  3. Collared polo tops: Preppier aesthetics have NEVER been my journey, but I’ve been really loving Lacoste-esque little polo style tops. I just think they’re so simple, but because they’re collared it automatically makes you look put together. This knit Izod one I tried on at Other People’s Closet was actually PERFECT, but it was $21 and I just couldn’t purchase it on principle because I know I could find something very similar at an actual thrift, even if it takes a few months of digging…

  4. Marching band/military inspired jackets: In the 2010s, we had the quintessential army green jacket and I think as 2010s fashion is circling back around, this time it’ll be iterations of marching band/military inspired jackets. This specific one from Free People that’s on eBay is so sick. I love the dark brown color and I think the detailing with the buttons down the front is a unique detail that you only see in marching band inspired silhouettes. Underneat that is a photo of one from Balmain’s SS09 runway. Ann Demeulemeester showed a ton on her SS26 runway, and I’ve been seeing them circulate in my feed for the past six months or so!

Details I’m loving

  1. Stripes in varying direction within the same garment

  2. Big, unique buttons

  3. Billowing sleeves

  4. Colorblocking

  5. Deep honey, caramel colored suede

What I’m actively on the hunt for

  1. Ponchos, capes & batwing sleeves: They were perfect in the summer, and even better in the fall. Anything with billowing sleeves and an ability to be manipulated is super in. I also think capes are so dramatic and fun for the cooler weather.

  2. Vintage puff sleeve nightgowns: Specifically in white with some fun lacey trim and ruffles, paired with suede accessories and big messy hair. I NEED!

  3. Elevated, black pieces: Could be just a plain, black t-shirt that I can just cut the neck off of. It could also be a knit, black sweater or simple collared black jacket. I’m open to anything! I want to create a collection of high quality, elevated black pieces that can be used in any outfit.

  4. Baggy track pants: I want them in navy, preferably men’s size medium Adidas navy track pants with the stripes down the side. Hyperspecific but also should be relatively easy to find?

Color combinations I’m loving

  1. Black and red

  2. Plum magenta and banana

  3. Purple and raspberry

  4. Turquoise and peach

  5. Espresso & aqua blue
