Easy, breezy, beautiful: what I’m wearing & loving for spring
Spring is in full swing here in Houston, and I’m welcoming to warm and windy weather with open arms. Runway fashion has been really inspiring me lately, so that accounts for about half of my Pinterest board for this season. A lot of the items I’m hunting for haven’t changed since the winter, because I haven’t been doing much thrifting recently! Hoping my thrift luck will change moving into this season.
My SS25 fashion week recaps
Colors I’m loving
Specific items I’m loving
I’ve moved away from military style jackets, mentioned in my winter fashion post, because I tried on a couple at Lofi in Austin a couple weekends ago, and I didn’t love the way they looked on me.
Lightweight cropped jackets: Loving jackets that have unique details and anything with a throat latch. It’s been crazy windy in Houston the past month, and it’s made me realize my assortment of lightweight jackets is a bit weak.
Toolbelts: Still loving toolbelts. Even though I’m the girl to carry a bag always, I do love the functionality of a toolbelt-esque piece for easy on-the-go moments, concerts, festivals etc. Gimaguas has a gorgeous butter yellow belt that I love.
Unique midi skirts: Looking for things with fun pockets, zippers, ruching, silhouettes. I’m always a skirt person, but in the springtime, my love for midi skirts is on 1 million.
Intimissimi long sleeve: I love how sheer is it! Perfectly lightweight but still lets you feel a little cozy because it’s long sleeve. They have a buy two get one free deal, and I may need to cash in on it soon.
Babydoll dresses: In theory, I think these could look great on me because I have long legs. However, I don’t think they’d look that great with sneakers, which is usually my footwear of choice, so I need to figure out shoe alternatives. I also think this would be relatively easy to sew.
Details I’m loving
A) Suede accessories
B) Firefighter clasps
C) Big buttons
D) Fun sleeves (padded, sharp shoulders, puffed etc.)
E) Polka dots
What I’m actively on the hunt for
Large black leather bag: Still hunting for a large, black everyday bag that can fit my laptop. I’d love a slouchier, hobo style with some solid pockets, fun zippers etc.
Quality basics: This hasn’t changed from my winter post either. The pieces from Organic Basics still look like my best option so maybe I should just commit. Sticking to my prediction that tops like these that mimic layering basics to become popular.
Baggy track pants: I saw a guy at the gym wearing the most gorgeous forest green baggy track pants and I was so tempted to ask him where they were from. Ideally, I’d like mine to be navy, but I could be open to a classic black pair or something fun like baby blue.
Long business shorts: There’s a picture of Zendaya on my spring Pinterest board where she’s wearing these long business sort of shorts and a green jacket that lives rent free in my head. If all else fails, I could thrift pair of men’s slacks and just cut and sew them myself to achieve the same effect.
